Well, Dotster didn’t give us the big award, but we did get an honorable mention in their “Next Big Small Business Contest.” I still think Headstand Media did pretty good, and I personally like our submission best. I just think we didn’t gush all about “Dotster” like the others…. so we didn’t win.

I wanted to follow up and say that we were impressed with your video and it was definitely one of the best-planned and produced videos we received. The selection wasn’t so much based upon “gushing about Dotster” as it was that ultimately we wanted to hear more about your small business.

Thanks for your comments. I may have overstated my point of view, but it did seem like the other entries spent more time pointing out how much Dotster was a key factor for them – in a more overt way.
We took an understated approach believing that to be the better way to send a brand message in today’s “web 2.0″ world where overt brand marketing is often met with skepticism and resistance. We felt that a subtle approach had a better chance of achieving some viral spread.
Even so, we appreciated the opportunity to participate in the contest and the degree of mention you did give us. We certainly are still very “Pro Dotster” and are using your services as an integral part of managing our healthy small business growth.
