You, your mom, and all your family are in my prayers during this time of deep sorrow and grief and loss.

A scripture verse that was a great help to me and to Sandy during the last week of her life is the prayer of Jesus in John 17:24. The devotional OUR DAILY BREAD called this the upside of dying. A comment by Charles Haddon Spurgeon on this verse is that every time a Christian dies it is in direct answer to the prayer of the Lord Jesus Christ to His Father. We cannot see the glory of Jesus Christ like we need to see it from down here. We have to go to be with Him where He is to see this great glroy. It has to be far more than worth the price.

Beautiful words. The loss of my mother in 1996 still seems recent, and while my dad is still here, your words mirror what I would write about him as I cherish the days I have left to enjoy his friendship. Our family is praying for you and yours. Sincerely, Karl.

Thanks for sharing this, Randy. Reading your words encourages me and reminds us of our mortality. It sounds like the Holy Spirit has granted your father a gift the Puritans called "dying grace" - a special peace some are given during final hours or days. We trust that this is the Lord's way of affirming to your father, "well done, good and faithful servant".

Thanks for sharing your thougts and emotions during this trying time. Your insight into this time of life is quite encouraging. I esepcially like the idea that "that neither of us will be separated from God’s love, nor will a physical separation between us be very long in the grand scheme of eternity." This can build one's hope and help everyone to focus on eternal joy over temporal pain.

We will have you and your family in our prayers this evening.
